Our Community
Since 1986, Health Services of Northern New York, a New York State Certified Home Healthcare Agency (CHHA) in St. Lawrence County, has provided a full range of home health services including short term/acute care and long term assistance. We provide in-home care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and private pay.
“Home care” encompasses a broad spectrum of both health and social services that can be delivered in a more comfortable home environment to persons who are disabled, chronically ill or recovering from an illness. These services include the traditional core of professional nursing and home care aide services as well as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, medical social services and nutritional services. All of our co-workers are screened during the hiring process and background checks are performed to ensure the security and safety of our clients.
Recent studies have shown that people improve and recover faster at home than in institutions. For instance, when chemotherapy is required for treatment of cancer, the smaller doses that can be administered at home cause fewer adverse reactions than massive doses delivered in hospital settings. Also, surveys consistently validate the fact that whenever people have a choice, they prefer home care.
Home care services are provided for people of all ages. A significant percentage of older people electing to live independently are taking advantage of home care services instead of spending their last years in a nursing home. Younger adults who are disabled or recovering from acute illness are choosing to be cared for at home whenever possible. Infants and children requiring even the most sophisticated treatment for serious childhood illness are often able to return to loving families and a secure home environment, thanks to advanced technology and pediatric home care services.
If you reside in St. Lawrence County, we can help you. Please contact our office and we can help you with your homecare needs: Call 315-265-4065 to speak with one of our nurses on our intake team. We are available 24 hours a day. In most cases, we will conduct an in-home assessment within 24 hours.
Each of our patients is assigned an experienced, caring Registered Nurse Case Manager who specializes in their specific needs. RN Case Managers conduct patient and environmental assessments and coordinate between all health care team members, including the physician.

Health Services of Northern New York is excited to announce that Vicki McClare has been named the HSNNY Employee of the Month for August 2023! Vicki is a Personal Care Aide and has been a part of the HSNNY family for nearly 23 years. Since she started at HSNNY in 2001, she has been a dedicated employee who always aims to put her clients’ needs first. Here are some of the many comments from Vicki’s coworkers who nominated her: “Vicki is an amazing PCA she always puts her clients 1st no matter what. She goes above and beyond to make sure they are taken care of. Her clients love her like family and many of them think of her as such.” “Vicki has a patient who was evicted from her home last month. Prior to her eviction Vicki took it upon herself to search for a new place for this person to live. Her search was unsuccessful, and her patient ended up in a hotel that was not a safe environment for her. Vicki has stopped to check on her a couple times and has taken her cold cuts, bread, salad etc. Vicki has gone above her duty as a Personal Care Aide and should be recognized for her compassion and kindness.” Please join us in congratulating Vicki on a job well done! We are so proud of your continued dedication and service! Congrats, Vicki! … See MoreSee Less

The announcement of our July Employee of the Month is long overdue and the recognition for this employee is also long overdue! Congratulations to Dyan Mallette, RN Case Manager on being named our July 2023 Employee of the Month.Dyan, now in her 31st year with HSNNY, has been the rock in our Nursing department for decades. She has never hesitated to share her experience and her time with anyone in the company who needed it. Back in the 90’s, Dyan returned to school all while working full time for HSNNY, and became a Nurse Practitioner. We were fearful that she would leave HSNNY, but her loyalty and love for her patients and home health care managed to keep her with us all these years. Some comments from the staff:“Dyan could be the Employee of the Month every single month. Steady and always can be depended on by whoever may need it.”“Dyan always is willing to help me out, no matter what time of the day!”“I would simply be lost without her guidance and support over the years!!”“Dyan always goes above and beyond.”“Despite having a personally very difficult month, Dyan still placed the needs of her patients at high priority, working more than she should have during that difficult time. She continues to be the point of contact for multiple nurses she has trained over the years and no matter what time of day, will always provide them the guidance they need.”Dyan, we are all proud to call you a co-worker and never stop being the leader that you have been.Congratulations!! … See MoreSee Less

We are excited to announce that our Peak Performer for June 2023 is Mindi Dodd, RN Case Manager! Mindi joined Health Services of Northern New York in 2013 when she brought her home health expertise to us after working for Public Health. As a caring and dependable nurse, Mindi has taken care of hundreds of patients in the western side of the county over the course of her time with HSNNY. One of the comments we received by staff who nominated Mindi was:“Mindi did an amazing job in covering for me while on vacation and taking the sick calls and seeing my patients on top of her already crazy and busy schedule without any complaints. My patients were well taken care of in my absence!” Here’s what some of Mindi’s patients had to say:“Mindi is a great person and very knowledgeable. I like her and she is comfortable to be around.” “My nurse Mindi is wonderful. She is very respectful, flexible, and very professional. She’s the one I would refer my family and friends to. Mindi is an asset to your group.” “I respected and trusted Mindi. Please extend my thanks and gratitude.”“Mindi is very professional, friendly, and caring. I would have her back anytime I am in need. She was the best!” We are lucky to have people like Mindi on our team. Keep up the great work and congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!! … See MoreSee Less
